Man held for duping youngsters of Rs15 lakh in Pune

The Airport police on Monday arrested Arvind alias Appasaheb Babu Pagare (25) of Lohegaon for allegedly duping some youths of Rs15 lakh under the pretext of getting them employment in Border Security Force (BSF) and in Indian Air Force (IAF).

After arresting Pagare, the police have recovered bogus appointment letters and air force stamps from the accused.
One of the victims, Faiyyaz Naseer Mullah (25) of Lohegaon, has lodged a complaint against him. Pagare has been charged under sections 420 (cheating), 464 (making false document), 465 (forgery) and other relevant sections of the IPC.

Pagare, a native of Mumbai but currently residing at Kudav chawl in Lohegaon, promised Mullah and other youths, jobs in BSF and IAF between September 2010 and January this year.
Pagare allegedly told Shaikh that he will help him get a job in BSF and took Rs1.5 lakh. He even gave Shaikh a bogus medical letter and got his medical examination conducted at Sion Hospital
in Mumbai.

After this, he gave Shaikh an appointment letter which turned out to be fake. Similiarly, Pagare allegedly took Rs15-16 lakh from Shaikh’s friend under the pretext of helping them get jobs in IAF.
On Tuesday, judicial magistrate (first class) MY Doiphode remanded Pagare in police custody till January 21.

Assistant public prosecutor Suchitra Narote told the court that accused’s custodial interrogation is necessary to find out where these bogus documents were made and if there are any other persons involved.
