A 26 year old Dombivli resident has been arrested by Cyber Crime Police for allegedly stalking and making obscene calls to a Kurla based college student. The police suspect that the arrested person had made similar harassing calls to several women in past.
The arrested person has been identified as Shamsher Ghulam Khan.
According to the police, complainant is a Kurla resident and studies in a Matunga based college. On February 5, victim received a call from an unknown mobile number which she did not attend. On February 7, she again received a call and when she attended it, the caller identified himself as Raju and asked for sexual favours. The terrified victim cut the call immediately.
The caller kept on calling regularly from February 8 till February 16 and then from February 24 till 28 from different numbers and kept doing same obscene discussions with the victim, police said.
"The victim was irritated with these calls and it was also affecting her studies after which she lodged a police complaint. On the basis of mobile phone details we managed to trace the suspect. We have seized three mobiles and three sim cards from Khan. He was released on bail by the court on Tuesday. We suspect that he had made such calls to other women in the past as well," said a crime branch officer.
