Mazgaon’s St Mary’s SSC school which has been mired in controversy, has yet again come under the government scanner. The director of the state Secondary and Higher Secondary Education department, Shreedhar Salunkhe has given the order of filing an FIR against the school management.Education inspector of the south zone has written a letter to the Byculla police station to file an FIR against the school under the Prohibition of Capitation Fee Act. Nanasaheb Kute Patil, a parent and complainant in the case, acquired this information under the Right to Information recently. So far no case has been registered with the police.Under the management of The Bombay St Mary Society, the St Mary’s School had earlier come under scanner for not having appropriate infrastructure to run the school’s SSC section and of collecting Rs45 lakh as capitation fees from parents under various heads. The state education department had also sent a derecognition notice to the school which was later withdrawn.
