As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials, not only Mumbai but even interior Maharashtra will see temperatures going further down and several cities will experience the chill.

In what could bring respite to the city, which generally remains hot and humid for most part of the year, Sunday morning saw the minimum temperatures dipping to 17 degree Celsius and weather observers claimed that the city is likely to continue to experience pleasant weather this week.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials, not only Mumbai but even interior Maharashtra will see temperatures going further down and several cities will experience the chill. "Not only the minimum saw a dip but even the maximum temperature also came down to 31.1 degree Celsius," said an IMD official.

Even private weather forecasting groups have predicted a good week ahead. "After passing of the westerly disturbance and cold front, the winds are changing. Till now Mumbai was experiencing easterly winds but now it will see northerly winds, which will bring the temperatures down for the next few days," said Mahalaxmi based Rajesh Kapadia, an enthusiast who has been in the field of weather forecasting and runs the popular blog, Vagaries of the Weather.

Kapadia said that Vagaries of Weather had predicted that beginning Sunday both minimum and maximum will begin to dip and this will continue till mid week. "We expect the maximum temperatures to be around 30 degree Celsius while the minimum temperatures too will reduce and Mumbai will see it going down between 16 to 18 degrees Celsius," he said.

While Mumbai will get some major relief other cities from Maharashtra are likely to experience some chill for sure. "As per forecast Nashik could see temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees Celsius while in Pune it would be around 10 degrees Celsius," Kapadia said.
