Twenty-two passengers, including three women, travelling in a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus, had a miraculous escape during their journey from Khed in Ratnagiri district to Pune.
When the bus reached Umbardi village in Bhor at 1.15am on Friday, the driving wheels of bus suddenly got locked while trying to negotiate a blind curve. The bus after ramming onto the dividers perched precariously. There was 300 ft gorge below it. The driver, Nagnath Tukaram Pawar along with the conductor quickly brought out the 22 passengers from the exit door.
“I jumped from the driver’s cabin after all passengers got down from the vehicle. After some time, due to strong winds, the vehicle fell into the gorge,” Pawar said.
