Officials said the DP for the newly included area will have to follow the same process as the draft development plan

While the city's Development Plan (DP) 2034 — a blueprint for the city's development in the coming years —has received another two months extension, the development department of BMC is likely to complete the proposed DP for three plots measuring a total of 1.1 sq km area, it received from Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in March 2017 by June 23.

"We are likely to publish the proposed land use report by June end," said an official from the development department. "The plan will then be put for objections and suggestions," a senior official from the BMC's development department said.

Officials said the DP for the newly included area will have to follow the same process as the draft development plan. He added that the three pockets will mainly be used for basic amenities that are lacking at present. "We have taken care of reservations of civic amenities, such as health dispensaries and schools. It will be based on the needs of the residents," said the official.

All three plots are located in the suburbs — a 47.4-hectare plot located near Bandra Kurla Complex in H-west ward, a 27.4-hectare plot between Mithi River and LBS Marg in Parig Khadi in L-ward and a 39.3-hectare plot near the Oshiwara District Centre, which falls between K-west and P-south ward.
