Puneites would have to bear with the rain for three more days. According to the officials of India Meteorological Department (IMD), the much-awaited monsoon withdrawal from Pune and other parts of Maharashtra is round the corner.

Meanwhile, IMD has forecast rain or thundershowers for Pune city in the next 48 hours.

According to the IMD officials, the development of a cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal 15 days ago had carried the moisture from the Bay of Bengal to Maharashtra and the west coast of India, resulting in rain over Pune for the past few weeks.

The officials said that the monsoon had withdrawn from the entire northern India, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and northern Orissa. However, it had not yet withdrawn from Maharashtra, parts of Chhattisgarh and Orissa.
