MUMBAI: An elderly woman was shot allegedly by her son in a north west suburb over a property dispute, police said on Wednesday.

Vasundhara Bandekar (62) was shot inside her residence in suburban Juhu on Tuesday evening after she denied her elder son Ganesh (40) a share in the ownership of the flat where she used to stay, police suspected.

"The accused walked away after firing the round from his pistol and we are searching for him. Ganesh is also wanted in connection with the murder of one of his relatives in Dadar in July this year," a senior police officer said.

The incident comes days after a hotelier was shot at by his brother inside a lwayer's chamber in South Mumbai over a property dispute in front of their mother while negotiations for a settlement were on.
