Local train services will be hit next week in the city as motormen of both Western and Central Railway have announced they will go on strike on January 26 to press their demands including a rise in salary.
According to the Motormen's Association, since the railway administration is not considering their long pending demands, all the motormen will go on strike on January 26.
The demands of the motormen include a weekly off, more allowances and better working conditions.
"As the motormen do not intend to cause inconvenience to commuters they have chosen the national holiday," a member of the motormen's association said.
Meanwhile, railway authorties have said, action will be taken against motormen who are absent from work on January 26.
"The action would include loss of pay and break-in service," they said.
