Succour may be far for residents of Dahisar who are forced to pay toll at the Dahisar toll naka. The Maharashtra State Roads Development Corporation (MSRDC) has refused to shift the toll station to Mira Road.

In the state legislative assembly on Monday, BJP MLAs Manisha Choudhari and Narendra Mehta had pointed to how residents of Tare compound in Dahisar, who used the Western Express Highway frequently, had to pay toll of Rs35 one way when they traveled to Mumbai or even short distances of two to three kilometres.

They asked if the state was ready to shift the toll naka to Mira Road, which would exempt these residents from payment of the road user charge. However, in a written reply to the question, public works (public undertakings) minister Eknath Shinde said the state government had established the toll naka after due consideration and there was no question of changing the location.

Shinde did add that concessional monthly passes were available for frequent travellers as per a government resolution, and toll was not charged on two-wheelers and autorickshaws.
