Mumbai: 1 killed, 2 injured in school bus accident

The cleaner of the school bus was killed and two students were injured when their school bus crashed into a barricade at Metro construction site.

A school bus, carrying 34 children, met with an accident at Western Express Highway, near NESCO in Goregaon on Tuesday. The cleaner of the school bus was killed and two students were injured when their school bus crashed into a barricade at Metro construction site.

The children were from St Xavier's High School in Goregaon.

Vanrai police have registered a case against the driver for negligent driving.

"It was an outsourced bus of St Xavier High School, Goregaon. Two children who were hurt were rushed to the Trauma Care Municipal Hospital. One was discharged immediately after giving first-aid treatment, while the other who suffered a fracture was taken to Holy Spirit Hospital in Andheri Mahakali Caves where he is currently being treated," said the school spokesperson.

The injured students have been identified as Amogh Warang, a student of class VIII student and Deep Nor, a student of class VI. The deceased has been identified as Umesh Gurav (38).

Jyotsna Rasam, Senior Inspector, Vanrai police station, said, "We have arrested Ramjit Gaud, the driver of the school bus for negligent driving."
