A Public Interest Litigation was today filed in the Bombay High Court demanding that the probe into the July 13 serial Mumbai blasts should be transferred to CBI. At present, Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Mumbai Crime Branch are jointly conducting the probe into bomb blasts which left 19 persons dead besides injuring over 130. The explosions occurred at Zaveri Bazaar, Dadar West and Opera House.
The PIL was filed by advocate VP Patil who contended that the bomb blasts were a terror attack on the nation and hence the central agency like CBI must take up the probe. It will come up for hearing in due course, Patil said. Patil further prayed for action against Maharashtra Government for failure of intelligence machinery about terror attacks. He also pleaded that a committee may be formed to improve police machinery in the state.
