The Dahisar police have arrested a person for allegedly assaulting two police constables with bamboo sticks in) two weeks ago. However, three more accused in the case are still absconding.

“We have arrested Hemraj Lohare, 29, an estate agent of Mira Road, after questioning several people in the Rawalpada area in Dahisar,” said senior Inspector Ansar Peerzade.

On December 12 night, on-duty police constables Rajesh Ekwade and Dilip Jadhav saw four people loitering around suspiciously.

When they flashed a torch at them, the men bashed the policemen with bamboo sticks. Ekwade sustained injuries on his head and Jadhav fractured his hand.

“Lohare said around 4.30am, when he was sitting in his car and waiting for his friends, he was under great stress,” said Peerzade.

“When the policemen in mufti flashed a torch on his face repeatedly, he got irritated. An argument ensued. It turned violent and the four men picked up bamboo sticks lying nearby and assaulted the constables.”
