RTI activists in the city have demanded that appeals and complaints filed by senior citizens be heard within eight weeks of them being filed, along the lines of the Tamil Nadu Commission, which also came out with a circular that said that senior citizens' pleas would be heard within eight weeks, provided they can provide an age proof.

"We have already shared the Tamil Nadu circular with the state information commissioner. We will make a presentation to him and demand that a similar step be taken in Maharashtra as well," said RTI activist Bhaskar Prabhu.

The activists have said they want the commission to take up the circular in the next administrative meeting, when all commissioners are present. This would help them draft a uniform policy, they said.
