The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) is heading towards a better communication system during major fire calls as it has procured a first-of-its-kind three fire post vehicles. The vehicles, which resemble like fire engines, have a mobile tower for better frequency for wireless communication, GPS tracking system of fire engines, a big camera that will give a surrounding picture of the fire spot, which will in return help in better plan of action in fire fighting.
"Three control post vehicles are in our possession now and are most likely to be inaugurated on April 10. After that the control posts will be used for Level 3, 4 and 5 fire calls — that is major fire calls only," Deputy Chief Fire Officer, R Chaudhary told DNA.
The control post vehicles also have video conferencing system, which will help fire officers to directly connect to main control room. While the vehicles are fully air-conditioned with better backup, the mobile control posts will be of great use for MFB in preparing actions plans during major fires.
