The victim Shashi Tiwari, her friends Kusum Bharadwaj and Nitu Tiwari were walking towards SNDT College to attend an exam when the two accused on bike zoomed past very close from them, they said.

The scared girls shouted at them. After a while the furious duo returned and attacked Tiwari, a resident of Vasai in neighbouring Thane district, with a sharp weapon, police said.

Shashi was rushed to a nearby hospital where she got five stitches on her abdomen, police said.

"The duo accused were booked under IPC sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means). A manhunt has been launched for them," said Avinash Jadhav, senior police inspector of Malad police station.
