Mumbai: Leopard spotted near residential area close to Aarey Milk Colony

For residents from Woodland Crest building in Vijay Nagar area near Marol Andheri, Monday, April 1 started on a quite a serious note as reports of a leopard moving around their building left everyone in panic.

The area is barely 100 meters away from boundary of Aarey Milk Colony and wildlife experts state that leopard have been spotted close to this area.

Initially locals thought that this could have been a April fool prank but soon images and videos of a leopard moving in daylight near Woodland Crest building began circulating, post which residents alerted the forest department and even Wildlife volunteers working withThane forest department along with Leopard Rescue Team reached the site around 11am.

Many residents remained in their houses, however several came down on the ground seeing the commotion.

"Though I have not seen it, several people claimed it was running all around in our building premises. I was told that a leopard was below one of the parked cars and hence we decided it was best to call Forest department," said Pramod Sambhutwad a resident of Woodland building.

However by around 11.30am forest department suspected that the leopard might have entered the eight storey building.

Officials from Forest department said that their team is at the spot and was carrying out recce as well as combing the area to find the location of the leopard.
