As many as 30 private players have shown interest in the construction of Dahisar (E)-Andheri (E) Metro line on the Western Express Highway (WEH). The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) organised a pre-bid meeting on Thursday. The elevated line with 16 stations is to be constructed within 30 months.
The entire alignment for construction purpose has been divided into three packages. The first package consists of designing and constructing an elevated viaduct and five elevated stations of Andheri (E), Shankarwadi, JVLR Junction, Mahanand and new Ashok Nagar.
The second package has designing and constructing of an elevated viaduct and six elevated stations of Aarey, Dindoshi, Pathan Wadi, Pushpa Park, Bandongri and Mahindra & Mahindra. The third package consists of designing and constructing an elevated viaduct and five elevated stations of Magathane, Devipada, National Park, Ovaripada and Dahisar (E).
Some of the companies that showed interest included HCC Ltd., Reliance Infrastructure, Pratibha Industries, AFCONS, L&T, Dextra India, Tata, Relcon Infra Projects, Simplex Infra, J Kumar Infra Projects, Unity InfraProjects, SEW, KMC Constructions, IL&FS, SOMA, AL FARA' A Infra Projects (UAE).
The estimated completion cost for the 16.5-km Metro project is Rs6,208 crore. Bidders are expected to submit their tenders by February 1. Thereafter, the bids will be evaluated for implementation.
Additional metropolitan commissioner Sanjay Sethi said, "The response indicates the level of confidence the bidders have in the government and its agency. The Metro-7 corridor will bring down the congestion on the suburban rails and provide Mumbaikars a safe and comfortable travel daily."
