Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that the 800 km Mumbai-Nagpur communication super expressway would be constructed soon and because of this expressway, travel time between these two mega cities would be reduced from the current 18 hours to 10 hours.
Fadnavis was speaking on the occasion of Independence Day, and said that the proposed Mumbai-Nagpur expressway will bring the two important cities closer. "Once the connectivity is smooth and fast, then business activities in these cities will be promoted and encouraged. We are also laying down fyber opticals on this super expressway," said the CM. The estimated cost for this mega highway is Rs 30,000 crore.
Interestingly, the project will connect all the three backward regions of Vidarbha, Marathwada and North Mahrashtra.
He said urbanisation is not a problem, but in fact an opportunity and boon. "With the help of the Cntral government, we are going to develop and improve infrastructure in 10 smart cities. Once infrastructure is in place, our cities will start competing with international cities. The Central government is not only helping in terms of approval but also providing fund for mega projects like coastal road, metro and trans-harbour links," said chief minister Fadnavis.
