Amidst the political hullabaloo of approaching elections, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray has a new address — Matoshree 2 — his dream house in the Kalanagar neighbourhood.
A few days ago, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation had handed him the Full Occupancy and Building Completion Certificate, a copy of which is available with DNA. The occupancy certificate dates to October 12, 2018, and the no-objection certificate for fire compliance was issued on September 28.
Uddhav's new mansion is a building with a basement, stilt plus seven floors. Located in Kalanagar, the building is visible from Bandra Kurla Complex road.
The new building, as per plans, has a built-up area of 1291.81 sq mt and the parking lot has a capacity of around 15 cars. The basement has a meter room, an AC plant room, a fire tank, a pump room and other amenities. The height of the building is 29.99 mt, from the stilt level, and the height of each floor from stilt is 3.52 mt.
The living room on the first floor has been designed to have the height of two floors. The first floor also houses a study and above it is the dining area on the second floor. There are master bedrooms on the third, fifth and seventh floors. Besides, the fourth and sixth floor have other bedrooms apart from living rooms. The terrace is on the eighth level and each floor has a balcony. The building also has servants' quarters. The building has been designed by noted architect, Phiroze Panthaki.
Uddhav Thackeray and Rashmi Thackeray got ownership of the plot from Platinum Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, in October 2016 for a value of Rs 11.60 crore. They even paid Rs 58 lakh as the stamp duty for the registration of a 480.77 sq mt plot. The land parcel originally belonged to celebrated artist Kattingeri Krishna Hebbar.
Despite repeated attempts, Uddhav Thackeray was unavailable for comment.

- In 2007, a Malad-based firm Platinum Infrastructure purchased the land from the siblings
- In January 2016, it sought permission from the suburban collector to transfer the plot, which was leased by the state to Kalanagar CHS
- The Thackerays then sought permission from the CHS to acquire and redevelop the plot
