Zen Sadavarte on Thursday

A student of Don Bosco International, Zen imparted the fire safety lesson she had learned in Class 3 to her family and neighbours when it was most needed.

Zen Sadavarte, a 10-year-old who saved 15 Crystal Tower residents on Wednesday by guiding them to cover their mouths with wet cloth to keep from being suffocated in the fire, attended school as usual on Thursday. But in casuals, not in uniform. She could not retrieve it from her house.

A student of Don Bosco International, Zen imparted the fire safety lesson she had learned in Class 3 to her family and neighbours when it was most needed.

Her school has decided to recognise her valour and presence of mind with a felicitation ceremony in the Friday assembly.

Her mother, Jayashri, an advocate, said, "All our belongings are in the flat, which is soaking wet from the cooling operation and without power. So we could not send her in uniform. I knew she does a lot of research but I didn't know she had done it on calamities in Class 3."

School principal Meena Saldanha said, "When Zen was in grade 3, she took up a project titled 'Natural calamities and disaster' and studied what you should do in case of such calamities. She did it so thoroughly that even after three years she could execute what she learned in real life.

Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation made an attempt to associate their awareness campaign around fire safety and response with Zen.
