The city's tryst with its worst kind of October heat continues as it reels under severe hot and dry weather conditions. Sunday witnessed a maximum temperature of 38.0 degree celsius, which is not only the highest this season but also the second highest since 2008.
As per officials from India Meteorological Department (IMD) currently the west coast winds are north easterly to easterly causing the hot conditions. "On Sunday while the maximum temperature was 38 degree Celsius the minimum was 21.4 degree Celsius, which means there is a difference of almost 17 degree Celsius between the maximum and minimum temperatures that makes the day even more uncomfortable," said the official.
Early this week on Tuesday the maximum temperature recorded was 37.6 degree Celsius and not only IMD officials but the private weather forecasting groups too have been citing that this October has not only been one of the hottest in the decade but also has seen the lowest rainfall in the same period.
Since 2008, Mumbai's maximum temperature recorded in October crossed 37 degree Celsius only on three occasions, however the city has already witnessed maximum temperatures crossing 37 degree Celsius for over four times this October.
