The Mumbai monorail project will be presented before the world this June in Kuala Lumpur at Monorailex, a global conference organised by the international monorail association.

The association is a part of the monorail society, a forum comprising all the world’s monorail manufacturers.

Kanesan Velupillai, president, Scomi International - a consortium partner in the Mumbai monorail project - said that the idea behind the conference is to get all stakeholders and cities interested in implementing monorail together.

The conference will help them understand the importance of the monorail transportation system, said Velupillai.

“We have invited public transport companies, experts, politicians and metropolitan authorities from world over to attend the conference.

A special presentation on the Mumbai monorail will be shown to all present at the two day conference.”

With the Mumbai project well received by the city, Suhaimi Tan Sri Yaacob, Scomi’s country head, will throw light on how monorails will play a major role in the holistic transport development in India.

“The monorail is a crucial part of the urban development plan and is an initiative to help ease traffic congestion and improve the environment in the city,” said Yaacob, who will make the presentation.
