Mumbai: Speeding car rams into divider, leaves two severely injured

The driver was allegedly talking on phone when he lost control and the car rammed into the divider.

In yet another incident, a speeding car rams into the divider on Eastern Express Freeway leaving two of three seriously injured. The Wadala Police has registered a case against the driver, identified as Nafeez Khan, under Section 279 of Indian Penal Code for rash driving.

Senior Police Inspector, Wadala Police, Parshuram Karyakarte said, “The accident took place when the white Ford Figo was heading with speed on the Eastern Freeway towards south bound and it rammed into the divider on the right. Two out of three were severely injured and were admitted in JJ Hospital. The two injured were, Nafeez Khan and Azgar Ali Khan (20), while the third, Shekhar, (surname unknown) was uninjured.” Speaking about the action to be taken on the driver, Karyakarte further added, “We have registered an FIR and will also check for past cases in the same.”

Ashok Dudhe, Deputy Commissioner Police, (DCP) who witnessed the crowd at the spot and helped said, “The three were in a really bad condition. It took us a lot of efforts to help them out of there. Nafeez, who is allegedly the driver was injured severely on his neck, he was speaking over the phone and was speeding while he lost his control over the car and rammed it into the divider.”
