MPS activists, including two women, were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly ransacking Amar theatre at Chembur while screening of a Marathi movie on Anna Bhau Sathe.

Three Maharashtra Parivartan Sena (MPS) activists, including two women, were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly ransacking Amar theatre at Chembur while screening of a Marathi movie on well-known social reformer Anna Bhau Sathe on Monday.

Around 60 to 65 activists booked tickets to watch Anna, Lai Bhari (Anna, you are Great). But they stood up on the chairs and shouted against the screening when an allegedly obscene scene flashed on the screen.

They then tore the screen and ransacked the cinema hall. After vandalising entrance door, the show case and about 50 chairs, they left.

The three arrested activists were released on bail. A manhunt has been launched for the others.
