The girl has also complained that she was beaten up and verbally abused by the family for demanding that she be married to her ‘boyfriend’.

A 20-year-old youth and his parents were arrested by the Manpada police, Dombivli here for forcing his minor girlfriend to undergo an abortion. The girl has also complained that she was beaten up and verbally abused by the family for demanding that she be married to her ‘boyfriend’. The trio, arrested on the girl’s complaint on Tuesday, are cooling their heels in police custody.

The 17-year-old girl and the accused, Nandu Muthe, 20, were in a relationship since past one and a half years since January 2017. “They consummated their relationship and the girl got pregnant in the first half of 2017,” says investigating officer P D Jadhav, Manpada police station. When she informed Muthe he forced her to take pills and abort. Again, when the girl conceived after a few months, he promised to marry her.

When the girl was seven months pregnant, Muthe and his parents — Pandharinath, 50 and Nandini, 43 — took the girl to a hospital in Titwala and forced her to undergo abortion. After a few days the girl again asked Muthe to marry her but he refused.

Then on May 6 around 10.30 am the girl confronted Muthe and his parents at their home about marriage when they beat her up and abused her verbally. Tired of fake promises and assault, the girl approached the cops the next day who registered a case against the trio under various sections of the IPC and POCSO (protection of children from sexual offences) Act.
