Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation's contests to mark Savitribai Phule's birth anniversary

The competitions include rangoli making, salad decoration and cooking.

The women and child welfare committee of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) will be organising various events on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule, on January 3. The civic body has appealed all the women participants to submit their forms in a prescribed format for the competition.

Applications for the rangoli contest and mono acting, which is to be held at ward level are to be submitted by December 17. The subjects for rangoli contest are free hand, nature drawing or any patriotic event. While the subject of mono acting will be ‘pain of today’s women.’

Cooking contest, salad decoration contest and making of artefacts from waste material are the other contests which will be held. The last date for submission of forms for this contests is December 30.

On the occasion, products prepared by mahila mandals and women self-help groups will be available for sale. NMMC will be providing stalls free of cost to such groups and those groups which wish to avail the benefits need to apply to the civic body by December 30.

Information booklets and rules and regulations for the contest are available at eight ward offices of NMMC and also with the planning department. Besides, it will also be available with late Gaurav Mhatre Kala Kendra, first floor, sector 3A, CBD-Belapur.

Those interested can also contact on 022-27579101. On the occasion, women self-help groups which have been continuously  doing an exceedingly good job will be awarded on January 3.

Nominations for the best self help groups have been invited till December 21.

“We are looking forward for the participation of maximum number of women and self-help groups, in this contest,” said Sunanda Raut, chairman of the women and child welfare committee.
