On Saturday afternoon, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar inaugurated an old age home for senior citizens amidst the presence of his party leaders at Kelwe. The home and restroom for elders were built by Somvanshi Kshatriya Samaj Unnati Sangh on the government land. The building was inaugurated. On the birth cenetenary year of social worker Padmashri Bhausaheb Vartak.
Also present in the event were the local politicians and the Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik. The old age home aims to provide better facilities in terms of library, computers and internet on no profit no loss basis.
"This kind of initiative should be taken by people and it is important that such amenities are provided and this will help strengthen the community, said Sharad Pawar while speaking to the audience.
"Atleast 40 persons can stay in this building and we have tried to make sure that the senior citizens remain connected with the outside world and have access to information and entertainment so that they can relax and live a peaceful life," said Vilasbandhu Chorghe, President, Vishramdham Samittee.
