Sachin Ahir, the NCP Mumbai president and NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik released the manifesto for the upcoming BMC elections.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday released its manifesto promising 700 litre of clean water free of cost to each family in Mumbai. The party also promised that BEST's minimum fare will be brought down to Rs 5 while the maximum will stay at Rs 10 if they came to power.

Sachin Ahir, the NCP Mumbai president and NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik released the manifesto for the upcoming BMC elections. Ahir said that there are almost 35 per cent water leakages and theft in Mumbai. "If we plug the leakages and stop the water theft, then we can easily provide 700 litre of clean water to each family free of cost. We have enough water, however, we need proper planning and management to utilise it,"Ahir said.

"BMC has made a Rs 50 crore Fixed Deposit. Why does the BMC need to put that money in FD? That money can be granted to the BEST so that rates can be reduced. If we come to power, the minimum BEST fare will be Rs 5 and maximum Rs 10. Besides this, we will also focus on health. There will be a round the clock health care call centre wherein people can call any time and seek medical help,"Ahir added.

Ahir said that they will also provide free WiFi services in BMC run colleges, hospitals, schools and market. "We want to make BMC corruption free. The potholes are a major issue in Mumbai. The road contracting has to be done through a global tendering process so that quality of roads in Mumbai can be better," he said.

NCP has 14 sitting corporators of the total strength of 227 corporators in BMC. Two sitting Congress corporators Neha Patil and Vakil Sheikh joined the NCP on Thursday after meeting with NCP chief Sharad Pawar. Ahir claimed that there are many candidates willing to join the NCP.
