NCP youth leader killed in mob attack, 6 injured in Pune

The Chakan police have booked Rajendra Anand Bhosale and Vinod Mhalunkar, both of Mahalunge village and 149 other suspects. The police said the main suspects were on the run.

The Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) youth wing vice-president, Santosh Janardhan Walke, 34, of Khed taluka, was murdered in an attack by a mob at his residence in Mahalunge village, Khed taluka about 35km from Pune.

The police said the prime suspect in the murder was the victim’s relative, Rajendra Anand Bhosale. The Chakan police have booked Bhosale and Vinod Mhalunkar, both of Mahalunge village and 149 other suspects. The police said the main suspects were on the run.

The injured included Walke’s cousin brothers, Rohit Sunil Walke, 17, and Vinayak Sunil Walke, 19. They have been admitted to a private hospital and were reported critical. Other victims have been identified as Bhausaheb Baban Walke, 30, Navnath Ashok Walke, 23, Kalidas Arun Javle, 26, and Dattatray Janardhan Walke, 36.

They are undergoing treatment at a hospital.

According to the Chakan police, on Friday night, Bhosale and his accomplices went to Walke’s house in Mahalunge village and attacked him and six others with swords, iron rods and sticks.

They sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a private hospital in Chakan. Walke was pronounced dead on arrival.

Walke and Bhosale are relatives. Recently, the village had a gram panchayat election. Walke had formed a separate group and contested the election separately. Since then, differences cropped up between the two.

Cheating case against company
The Bund Garden police have registered a case of cheating against directors and accountant of Silver Jubilee Motors for not depositing employees’ provident funds (PF) of Rs9.93 lakh after deducting it from their salaries.

The suspects have been identified as managing director Sanjay Jagtap, executive director Kiranpal Ahluwalia and accountant Sandeep Barkule.

Karunakar S Karkera, 49, an enforcement officer at the Employee’s Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), has a lodged a complaint in this regard with the Bund Garden police.

According to the police, Karkera had inspected the documents related to PF deductions at the Silver Jubilee Motors and found that the salary bills of employees were missing since 1996.

Two killed in road mishaps
Two people were killed in two separate road accidents near Swargate bus stand and on the Pune-Mumbai highway.

Daniel Anthony Payas, 44, of Kasarwadi died on the spot after his autorickshaw rammed a road divider on Pune-Mumbai highway early on Saturday. In the second mishap, Ganesh Dattatray Kadam, 24, of Gunj Peth died after the tempo in which he was traveling turned turtle in front of Swargate bus stand.
 

Two killed on expressway
Two people were killed and five others were seriously injured when the Indica car in which they were traveling rammed into a truck that had halted near the Khalapur toll booth about 75 km from Pune late on Friday night.

The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. Both the vehicles were headed towards Pune. The injured have been admitted to a private hospital in Panvel.
