Close on the heels of Kannada actress Maria Susairaj denying her role in the Neeraj Grover murder case yesterday, her fiance and co-accused Emile Jerome Mathew also told the court today that he was falsely implicated in the case. The court was recording his statement under the provisions of section 313, in which the accused is given a chance to explain the circumstances and the allegations against him."They (witnesses) are instructed by the police hence they are deposing against me", said Jerome when the court asked him as to why the witnesses deposed against him.According to police, Jerome and his girl friend Maria allegedly killed Grover by stabbing him at Susairaj's house at Malad on May 7, 2008.Jerome told the court that he knew Grover but he was not aware where Grover was working and whether he had promised Maria a role in television serial, public prosecutor RV Kini said.Jerome also told the court that he had come to Mumbai from his Kochi naval base on May 7, 2008 as Maria was under some mental depression and returned to Kochi on May 9, 2008."The only mistake that I did was not informing my base before I came to Mumbai", said Jerome in his statement.
