The state government has directed the Brihanmumbai  Municipal Corporation (BMC) to chalk out a plan for the beautification of the 14-km stretch covering the Juhu chowpatty.

The decision was taken in a meeting headed by the guardian minister of Mumbai suburbs Mohammed Arif Naseem Khan. MLAs from the suburbs, who attended the meeting, complained about the shabby condition of the promenade  and the lack of basic amenities along the sea shore. Khan directed BMC officials to chalk out a plan and ensure that modernisation of the stretch starts at the earliest. The project is expected to cost Rs15 crore.

“The stretch between Juhu and Bandra is important for tourism. The civic body has been directed to make a plan of international standards for its beautification,” said Khan.
