With a view to reduce paper work and store data online, the birth and death registration department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will soon issue birth certificates within seven days.
Speaking with DNA, Dr Sunil Tore, head, PMC’s birth and death registration department, said that the PMC was launching a pilot project with the help of 15 hospitals in the first week of September.
“This information would be forwarded to the families. Server facilities will be provided at the 15 hospitals that will be connected to the main server at PMC,” Tore said.
Dr RR Pardeshi, head of the health department in the PMC, said that if the project were successful, the civic body would include all the 600 hospitals of the city in the project.
