Now, Ilayaraja makes melodies in Marathi

After scoring music for Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu and Hindi films, which set many hearts aflutter, legendary music director Ilayaraja a is now composing music for a Marathi film.

For the last few months, Ilayaraja a has been working on the music for ‘Hello Jaihind’, a Marathi-language movie being directed by Gajendra Ahire and produced by Trupti Bhoir.

Senior singers like Sukhwinder Singh, Hariharan, Kailash Kher and Anil Shinde have recorded songs for the movie. Uttam Singh is working as the music arranger along with Ilayaraja. The music recording  was done in Mumbai and Chennai.

“We are very happy Ilayaraja accepted our offer. He is really down to earth. After listening to the story, he immediately agreed to compose music for the film. He has already started composing the music,’ said Ahire.

According to experts, if Ilayaraja agrees to compose music for a film that means that the film should be good. And the fact that Ilayaraja has composed music for the film has already created a buzz about the movie.

According to sources, the Marathi movie for which Ilayaraja has composed music is a story based in Mumbai. The film is slated for release on November 25. Music director Kaushal Inamdar said, “It is really a proud moment for Marathi cinema that the legendary Ilayaraja has composed the music for a Marathi film.”
Ilayaraja is one of the top music composers of South Indian cinema since the late 70s. He has worked mainly in Tamil cinema, but he has also given music for films in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.

He has composed more than 4500 songs and provided film scores for around 950 Indian films in a career spanning more than 30 years. He is acclaimed for his background score in films. He is also on the list of world’s top selling music artists.
