“Coordination between the authorities during a crisis situation is very important,” Mumbai police commissioner D Sivanandhan said on Friday.

“We’ve learnt important lessons from the past [26/11 attacks] and we are prepared for the future now.”

The police chief along with other security experts from the US and the UK were part of the security summit organised by the Bombay First, part of Megamorphosis 2009.
“People working with important agencies should be intelligent, well-prepared and educated to make right decisions,” said Sir David Veness, former under-secretary general for safety and security, United Nations.

Maharashtra director general of police AN Roy said: “We are in a geo-political situation wherein we are facing threats from neighbouring countries that have internal problems. The half-baked Hindu terror attacks have made the scenario worse. This has led to an increase in the recruitment to terror outfits.”
