The Deccan Gymkhana police last week arrested a suspect for duping of a city-based private company to the tune of Rs14 lakh. The suspect allegedly stole a blank cheque and deposited it in his bank account in Mumbai.
The incident came to light last week. The suspect has been identified as Gangadhar Chaturbhuj, 40 of Vile Parle, Mumbai. The judicial magistrate (first class) GG Itkalkar on Thursday remanded him in police custody till July 21. A complaint was filed by Sachin Shyam Zade, 29, of Pimple Gurav on Monday with the Deccan Gymkhana police station. According to the police, Zade was working as an accountant in Data Care Corporation Company in Pune.
One unidentified suspect had stolen a blank cheque from the company. The person also forged the signature of the company director and deposited the cheque. The amount was later credited to Chaturbhuj’s account.
