Overflowing lakes end city’s water woes

As of Tuesday the water content in all the six lakes is about 13 lakh million litres, which is expected to last till next monsoon.

Two lakes, Modaksagar and Tulsi, started overflowing in July end, and Tansa and Vihar overflowed in August after receiving continuous rain. Upper Vaitarna started overflowing on September 28, while Bhatsa is about to.

The BMC had imposed a 15% water cut last year due to poor rainfall.

It was lifted gradually this year after the water level of all the lakes became healthy.
