Fear and panic grips Moshi in Pimpri-Chinchwad area on Thursday morning after some local residents saw pugmarks resembling that of a leopard.
The zoo officials of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) immediately rushed to the spot. The PCMC Bahinabhai Chaudhary Zoo officer, Anil Khaire, told DNA that forest officials visited the spot and searched for the big cat.
“They have taken samples of the pugmarks for tests to ascertain whether it was that of a leopard or some other animal,” he added.
Interestingly, it is for the third time that the local residents had seen such pugmarks in the area. On both the occasions the pugmarks were confirmed that of a hyena.
