The Gamdevi police arrested a passport agent on Tuesday for submitting forged documents to the Korean Consulate to get tourist visas for his three clients hailing from Andhra Pradesh.
“Digambar Parte, 24, a resident of Ghatkopar, was arrested and remanded in police custody by the local court,” said an officer. He added that a manhunt has been launched to nab his three clients — Aktar Sherif, 51, Sheikh Rehman, 22 and Mohammed Jaffar, 24.
On Tuesday, Don Kim, a visa officer in the consulate general office of the Republic of Korea at Peddar Road, noticed that documents such as SBI and HDFC banks’ statements, income returns and company letterheads belonging to Sherif, Rehman and Jaffar, submitted by Parte, were bogus. He lodged a complaint at the Gamdevi police station.
In the first week of January, the Gamdevi police had arrested two people Mukesh Chouhan, 24, and Tisif Chasmawala, 24, for preparing and submitting fake documents to the Korean Consulate to get tourist visas for his three clients from Chembur.
