The Bharati Vidyapeeth on Monday launched its swank School of Photography on its Dhankavdi campus. It was inaugurated by Bollywood actor Boman Irani, who was impressed by the state-of-the-art facilities, including a master studio spread over 25,000 square feet.
The film star, a well-known photographer before making a mark on the silver screen, took a round of the campus.
Part of the visiting faculty, Mumbai-based Bharat Bhirangi, a famous name in advertising and commercial photography said, “We have gone all out to make sure our students have the best facilities in the country. A lot has been invested for this and thus you will find Hasselblad H4D31, 31-megapixel cameras with assorted lenses and Phase One 645df high-resolution medium format digital cameras with IQ140 & IQ160 digital backs (40 & 60 megapixels) with leaf shutter Schneider lenses.”
Bharat, who is the institute’s technical consultant, said there will also be 35-mm camera systems comprising Nikon D3x & Nikon D3s with lenses ranging from 12 mm to 500 mm.
“Top-of-the-line Broncolor lights with a wide range of modifiers and soft boxes and a digital darkroom complete with Apple Macintosh workstations with Wacom Intuos graphic tablets and professional-grade printers is what you’ll find here,” he added.
The founder of the deemed varsity and state minister of forests, Patangrao Kadam, vice chancellor, Shivajirao Kadam and secretary of the varsity, Vishwajeet Kadam were also present.
Senior photojournalist, Rajan Chaughule will head the institute that has Mukesh Parpiani, photojournalist, Atul Loke, Nayan Khanolkar and Suresh KK among others as the faculty.
