Seventeen-year old Aishwarya Sridhar, a student of Dr Pillai Global Academy, has made the city proud. She has been declared the world topper in Business Studies paper in Cambridge International Examination held this June.

Sridhar scored highest marks in Business Studies in Cambridge International AS level examination (equivalent to class XI) of which the result was declared on Tuesday night.

Cambridge International Examination (CIE) also announced the winners of the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards and a total 109 learners from India have been selected for exceptional performance in Cambridge exams, including 20 learners who achieved the highest marks in the world and 76 learners who attained the highest marks in India in a single subject.

Sridhar had appeared for four papers and her percentiles are Business Studies (97), Accounting (96), Economics (91) and English Literature (85).

Jubilant Sridhar dedicates her success to her consistent hard work and support from family and school. “I believe my hard work and a scheduled study time for studies helped me achieve this feat. I want to thank my teacher Altaf Siddique who guided me through the year.”

She added that she got a lot of supports from her parents and school to achieve this.

A total six students of Dr Pillai Global Academy appeared in the AS level exam and Sridhar emerged as topper; Aditya Gopalraj topped in physics and chemistry.

Apart from studies, Sridhar is also actively involved in environment conservation. She had received ‘Young Naturalist Award’ by Sanctuary Asia in 2011.

Siddique, an IIM-Indore pass out, says she is very hard working and focused to her goal.
Siddique believes that international boards test the student’s knowledge, while Indian board test memories.

“International board tests how students are analytical to a particular situation and their decision making power which comes after rigorous work on the application of theories,” concluded Siddique.
