Playwin handed over cheques worth over Rs9 crore to its jackpot winners at a grand ceremony held at hotel The Lalit in Santa Cruz on Thursday.
Amit Goenka, chief executive officer, Pan India Network Ltd. and Arjuna Award winner Jwala Gutta handed over the cheques to the winners. Among the top awardees were Ranjan Kumar Pal, ES Subramaniyan and Bezan Karadia. They were given cheques worth Rs4.50 crore, Rs2.07 crore and Rs2.02 crore respectively.
In addition to these three, 11 other winners were given a total of Rs61 lakh as prize money amount. Retailers who sold tickets were also rewarded with one per cent commission of the winning jackpot amount.
Speaking at the event, Jwala Gutta said, "Jeetne ke liye khelna jaroori hai (to win one must first play)," and added: "I would love to contribute money to support sports culture in the country."
The Arjuna awardee also said that she and Ashwini Ponnappa are all set for going to the World Championships and are aiming for the top 5 ranking.
Speaking on the occasion, Amit Goenka said, "Over the years, Playwin has created a number of winners and helped them to fulfill their dreams and goals."
Till date, Playwin has created 91 crorepatis and over 4,500 lakhpatis from all over India making it the most successful form of gaming within a span of 13 years since its establishment.
