The Versova police, on Sunday, seized a Mercedes car owned by Hyderabad-based businessman Rishi Agarwal that small-time actress Rekha Rana was allegedly keeping in her possession illegally.

The car was seized after Agarwal's wife lodged a complaint with the Versova police that Rana had been blackmailing her husband and demanding money. The car was seized from the parking lot of Rana's building premises in Andheri (west).

According to the police, Agarwal lives in Hyderabad with his family, but visits Mumbai regularly for business purpose. Last year, he met Rana through a common friend in Mumbai and after that the two used to be in touch.

"Last December, Agarwal bought a second hand Mercedes worth Rs17lakh in Mumbai. As the dealer wanted to deliver the car to a Mumbai address, Agarwal asked Rana, to take delivery at her address," said the police.

Later, the two met in a five star hotel in Juhu area thrice, but whenever Agarwal asked Rana for the car keys, she allegedly refused to part with it and told him to transfer the car to her name.

"Rana also threatened Agarwal through text messages that if he did not transfer the car and give her more money, she would lodge a rape case against him," said the police.

Agarwal then approached Versova police and a non-cognisable complaint was registered against Rana. In response, Rana lodged a molestation case against Agarwal in DN Nagar police station. This case was later transferred to the Juhu police where she alleged that Agarwal had been making sexual advances towards her. He then approached the court and got bail.

After Agarwal's wife, Dimple, came to know about the incident, the couple lodged a complaint of cheating and extortion against Rana in Versova police station.
"In the preliminary investigation we learnt that Rana was using the car without any documents related to the vehicle and that Agarwal had bought it. As of now we have seized the car and brought it to the police station, and investigation is on," said the Versova police.
