MUMBAI: In the wake of twin blasts in Hyderabad and the approaching festive season, city police on Monday started sensitizing owners of malls and cinema halls.
"We cannot have our personnel everywhere. They have their own security systems and were today sensitized about how to use their set-up to the best to avoid any incidents," Anti-Terrorism Squad chief KP Raghuvanshi said.
Senior police officials, including Raghuvanshi and city's Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) KL Prasad, on Monday held a meeting with the owners.
The blasts in Hyderabad on Saturday claimed 40 lives.
Security has been beefed up across the city following the blasts and with the festive season beginning with Raksha Bandhan on Tuesday and Shab-e-Barat and Ganpati approaching, policemen have become extra vigilant, said a high-ranking police official.
"All the Deputy Commissioners of Police and inspectors have been asked to speak to the heads of religious institutions and Ganesh mandals that fall in their jurisdictions," he said.
A series of explosions had rocked the textile town of Malegaon in north Maharashtra on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat on September 8 last year, killing 31 people.
