According to the police, the accident took place at 3:20am when the vehicle jumped on to a footpath near the Mafatlal Club and overturned.

A pre-dawn fun drive on Thursday with two prostitutes went horribly wrong for Malabar Hill resident Jaffer Ali Mohammad Ibrahim Shaikh, 28, and his friend Qasim Qureshi, 52, when their car went out of control, jumped the kerb near H2O on Marine Drive, and turned turtle.

While one woman died, the other three occupants of the car were injured, the police said. The dead woman was identified as Radha, 20. Police said she was a prostitute from Kamathipura. The other woman was Mumtaz Begum Shaikh, inspector Avinash
Shingte of the Marine Drive police station said.

According to the police, the accident took place at 3:20am when Jaffer lost control of the car (MH 04 QE 5908) and the vehicle jumped on to a footpath near the Mafatlal Club and overturned.
Shingte said the women were seated in the rear. A passer-by alerted the police who rushed the four to JJ Hospital for treatment. Radha, however, was declared dead. Qasim and Mumtaz were discharged after treatment.

“The vehicle belonged to Jaffer and Qasim’s friend,” a police officer said. “Jaffer has been arrested for rash and negligent and drunken driving.”

Both Jaffer and Qasim are drivers by profession. “We informed the families of both men,” the officer said. “They were very shocked to know that the two were out in the night partying with prostitutes.”
