Veteran Taal exponent Pandit Mauli Takalkar will be felicitated by Takshila Educational Society (TES), promoter of Delhi Public School (DPS) in the city on Sunday. He will be honoured at ‘Ninad’, a classical performance programme at Mukherjee Udyan, Erandwane on Sunday at 5:30 pm.
A disciple of Madhavbua Sukale, he has been felicitated with many awards including Kalashree, awarded by late Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Mitra Foundation Award, Talmartanda Award (Bagalkot), Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Puraskar (Pune) and Sangatkar Puraskar. Takalkar has the rare distinction of performing with the late Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.
‘Ninad’ is a special effort by TES to promote artistes by providing them with a platform to showcase their talent and honour to the yesteryear’s greats. TES has also organised a classical performance by Pt Vijay Bakshi and Sukhad M Munde at
the event.
