Twelve-year old Shubham Shailendra Kambale paid with his life while trying to ape stunts of the popular cartoon character Batman. The incident took place at 1.30 pm on Sunday.

Tragedy struck the Kambles even as Shubham's father was hospitalised for a few days at a private clinic. Shubham was all alone at home playing Batman, while his mother had gone to arrange for her husband's discharge due later that day.

According to the police, Shubham often tried to imitate Batman stunts at home. On Sunday, he tied a saree to a five-ft ladder and tried descending down it. The saree got entangled around his neck, choking him to death.

The incident came to light after his mother returned home and found he was not responding to her calls. She raised an alarm and called the neighbours, who rushed the boy to a nearby hospital. He was given ventilator support at the hospital and the doctors tried their best to revive him, but their efforts failed. He was declared dead after some time. The Pimpri police have recorded the case as an accidental death and further investigations are on.
