In a bid to cater to the increasing demand for high performance computing (HPC) professionals across the country, Pune-based Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has announced the launch of HPC professional certification program (CCHPCP).
There is a need for over 10,000 HPC professionals for administering and running the HPC clusters in various government departments and private sectors engaged in research and development.
Hemant Darbari said, “There is a dearth of HPC professionals across the country in government as well as private sectors. To address the problem, C-DAC is launching a three-month certificate program.”
The certification program will grade the examinee’s knowledge and understanding of computer languages like C, C++, Fortran, Uniprocessor, Optimisation of serial codes, parallel computing architecture and challenges and OS concepts.
“Presently, HPC professionals have been trained on the job; but the demand for such professionals is so high that it is unable to meet the demand of the industry,” Darbari said. A manpower pool of trained HPC professional has to be created to fill the gap between supply and demand, he said.
C-DAC’s senior director for HPC, Pradeep Sinha said, “After developing the HPC system and facilities, C-DAC has also decided to develop manpower in HPC sectors to run the program.”
The course fee is Rs12,500 and the candidate should obtain at least 70% to pass the examination. Details are available on www.cdac.in.
