The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has got only Rs3.9 crore in revenue by way of fines to regularise unauthorised constructions and provide occupation certificates under its much talked about scheme.
Former leader of house in the PMC, Nilesh Nikam, said the civic body has got only Rs3.9 crore as fee as 86 cases were cleared under the scheme since May 2011. The civic body should implement the scheme more effectively, he added.
He said that when the civic administration introduced the scheme some time ago, it was claimed that it would get significant revenue and it would deter such construction in the future. But considering the amount it has collected and the number of proposals it has cleared, there is a need for the civic body to implement the scheme forcefully.
There are a number of properties in the city for which the completion certificate or occupation certificate is not procured by the builders. Also, there are cases of unauthorised constructions in some buildings.
The PMC had introduced a scheme to provide these certificates or to regularise unauthorised constructions which was not illegal, by charging a fee.
The administration had claimed that the scheme would provide relief to many residents who are suffering due to lack of initiative by the builders to procure completion certificate or occupation certificate.
