A complaint in this regard was lodged by Daisy David (31) of Bramha Suncity Society, Kalyaninagar with the ACB, Pune.

The Pune anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Sunday arrested a police sub-inspector Jagannath Bhaushaeb Shevale (33) attached to Yerawada police station for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs25,000 to hush up a chapter case.

A complaint in this regard was lodged by Daisy David (31) of Bramha Suncity Society, Kalyaninagar with the ACB, Pune.

According to the ACB, on February 22 night, some unidentified men and women were creating noise in the flat adjacent to David’s. At 2 am, the complainant’s husband spoke to them.

But they got into a heated argument, resulting in a scuffle. One of the men was injured. In the meantime, Daisy called up the police control room for help.

The control room informed the Ramwadi police chowki about the incident. Assistant police inspector Rajendra Galande of the ACB said, “A police team led by Shevale reached the society. By that time, one of the men was already injured. As a result, Shevale asked Daisy’s husband to come to Ramwadi police chowki.

Meanwhile, the men went to the police chowki and lodged a complaint against Daisy husband. When Daisy and her husband reached the chowki, Shevale demanded Rs25,000 for
not arresting him. Daisy withdrew the money from an ATM centre and gave it to Shevale, but Shevale did not allow her husband to go home.”

On February 23, Daisy went to the police chowki for  information. Galande said, “Shevale allegedly demanded Rs25,000 to not take action against Daisy’s husband under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973. Following which, she approached the ACB and lodged a complaint.”

On February 29, ACB sleuths laid a trap in Kalyaninagar, but in vain. Galande said, “From February 23 to 29, Shevale called up Daisy and demanded money. We verified the information and took action against Shevale,” he said.

The ACB sleuths would check the call details of Shevale and Daisy. Meanwhile, the ACB sleuths have lodged a complaint against Shevale at Yerawada police station.
